Wednesday, December 18, 2013 - St. Lawrence campus ED Caregivers delivers hats and gloves to kids

Caregivers from Sparrow's St. Lawrence Emergency Department donated nearly 250 sets of hats and gloves for students at Willow Elementary School in Lansing.

"Sending Winter Warmth to Willow" was the department's project this year for a holiday donation. The idea came about from Missy Brown, RN, BSN, Manager of the St. Lawrence Emergency Department.

"Everyday, I pass Willow Elementary on my way to work," Brown said. "There were times when I saw children outside walking to school in the cold without hats and gloves. This project was a great way for us to give back to the community and to help the kids at the same time."

Fall-related injuries are common, especially in our senior population. Sparrow has launched a free, five-week series.

Sparrow is consolidating Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital’s home care services with its own this fall.
