Recognizing that a person is a unity of mind, body and spirit, the Department of Pastoral Care for Sparrow Health System provides quality, compassionate, accessible and cost-effective care to the people our system serves. We do this by:
- Providing spiritual and emotional support to patients and families regardless of faith group affiliation or lack thereof, respecting every individual's right to their own beliefs.
- Engaging in interdisciplinary dialogue regarding spiritual care with members of the treatment team.
- Providing education and personal support to staff, physicians, volunteers and administrators, that they may be equipped and strengthened to care for others.
- Supporting area clergy as they minister to members of their own congregations who have been hospitalized.
- Providing education to area clergy on pastoral care issues in the Health System context.
