In order to keep your blood sugar from getting too high or too low, you should:
- Eat 3 meals a day - Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner.
- Eat a snack before bed if your doctor or dietitian suggests a snack.
- Eat about the same amount of food at each meal.
- Space your meals evenly throughout the day (about 4 hours between meals).
- For the time being, avoid sugar and foods that are sweetened. Twice a week, a small serving of the
following foods would be okay:
- Jell-O
- Regular pop
- Kool-Aid sweetened with sugar
- Dessert (cake, candy, brownies, cookies, pie, doughnuts)
- Syrup, jams, jellies, molasses, corn syrup

- Lean meat, poultry, fish, lowfat cheese, or eggs
- Fruit or unsweetened fruit juices
