Fast Food Tips

It seems like eating at fast food places is a way of life. Here are some tips on lowering your calorie intake when you are eating on the run.

Quick Links:

Keep in mind that little changes in your intake can make big changes in your waistline over time. By skipping 100 calories a day, you can lose 10 pounds in one year.

  1. Limit PROTEIN on PROTEIN food choices.

    ORDER A...

INSTEAD OF A...

CALORIES SAVED

    Hamburger

Cheeseburger

50 to 100

    Single meat patty sandwich

Double or triple meat patty sandwich

200 to 300

    Cheese pizza

Meat lover's pizza

50 to 75/slice

    Bean burrito

Supreme burrito

50 to 100

  1. Rethink your DRINK!
  2. Consider ordering milk with your meal - your bones will love the calcium and you will get 130 less calories than a 20 ounce serving of regular pop. If 8 ounces of milk will not satisfy your thirst - consider ordering unsweetened iced tea, diet pop, coffee or even water.

  1. FIX the FAT
    • Fat can be hidden in unusual places. Did you know that a taco salad has the same amount of fat as a double whopper!
    • All chicken sandwiches are not created equal. The lower fat choices include grilled and unbreaded fillets without the mayonaise or the salad dressing.
    • In general the plainer the sandwich, the lower the fat content will be. The extra sauces and cheese really add up the extra calories quickly.

  1. Bigger is not BETTER
    • Supersizing a meal may be a good idea for your pocketbook - but in the long run the extra calories could be very costly.
    • Order a regular sized meal and take time to ENJOY your food.
