IMPORTANT INFORMATION

The American Academy of Pediatrics continues to support the evidence that breastfeeding protects infants against a variety of diseases such as:

• diarrhea
• ear infections
• bacterial meningitis
• respiratory tract infection
• urinary tract infection
• diabetes
• childhood obesity

There are also health benefits for mothers who breastfeed including:

• decreased postpartum bleeding
• earlier return to pre-pregnancy weight
• decreased risk of breast and ovarian cancers

FREE BREASTFEEDING SUPPORT GROUP-- This group meets on the last Wednesday of each month from 11:30am to 1:00pm at the East Lansing Public Library at 950 Abbot Rd. East Lansing Mi 48823. Come and share friendship and fellowship with other nursing moms as you share your successes and concerns about breastfeeding. All are welcome. Please call our office for other times and locations.

La Leche League

All breastfeeding mothers and mothers-to-be interested in breastfeeding are welcome to attend meetings or call for breastfeeding help or information. Babies and toddlers are always welcome at meetings. La Leche League Leaders are experienced mothers who have breastfed their own babies and who have been trained and accredited by La Leche League International to help mothers with all aspects of breastfeeding. They are available by phone whenever you have breastfeeding questions or concerns.
