Clinical Trials are new and exciting treatments in which researchers are trying to
establish better ways to treat cancer patients. If a new treatment proves effective in
a study, it may become a new standard treatment that can help many patients. The Sparrow Institutional Review Board (IRB) provides oversight and review for all studies that are available at Sparrow Cancer Center.
Who can take part in Clinical Trials?
These are highly specialized studies in which men, women, and children, of all races and ethnic
backgrounds can take part.
What are the benefits of participating in Clinical Trials?

- Participation is voluntary
- Records of participation are kept confidential
- Patients are randomized to one of the treatments offered
