Wireless Internet Access
What do I need to access the wireless network?
You need a laptop or a PDA equipped with a Wi-Fi compliant 802.11 wireless Ethernet card and a standard web browser.
How do I connect to the network?
- Wireless Internet (Wi-Fi) is available at the Carson City Hospital campus (Main Hospital and the Professional Building) with rare exceptions.
- Check to make sure your Wi-Fi software and card are correctly installed and powered on.
- Open your wireless software and scan for wireless networks.
- Connect to the network named "Public".
- Open your browser and you're ready.
Having difficulty connecting? Here are things to check...
- Manually set your SSID to "Public". Refer to your Wi-Fi card manufacturer's instructions on how to set the SSID.
- Ensure that WEP encryption is disabled and authentication is set to "none".
- Make sure that the connection is set for "Infrastructure" mode.
- If any changes were made in steps 1-3 restart your computer.
- There are a few areas where the wireless signal is weak or unavailable. Move to another area and try again
if you think the wireless network (Wi-Fi) is not present.
