Certified therapy dogs visit Sparrow Hospital Pediatrics twice a week. Children can throw toys for the dogs to retrieve or just cuddle up with them.
The dogs bring smiles to the children's faces even though they may not feel well or are just tired of being couped up in the hosptial.
The dogs also visit children who can't leave their hospital room. If allowed, the dogs will jump up on the patient's bed and cuddle with them.
The Outpatient Pediatric Rehabilitation department also has therapy dogs that visit the outpatient rehab gym to lift the spirits of their hard-working patients.
