Peter Zipple, AAS, RRT, RPFT, Technologist, in the Pulmonary Function Testing Lab

Pulmonary Function Testing

Quick Links:

Pediatric pulmonary function testing is now offered in the Pediatric Subspecialty Clinic located in Suite 460 of the Sparrow Professional Building.

Pulmonary function testing is only part of the process that your physician may order to assess your child's breathing. This can be a very sensitive indicator used to diagnose a problem.

In general, pulmonary function tests are not painful, but they require maximum effort to obtain valid results and may be slightly taxing to the energy of individuals with pulmonary difficulties.

Pulmonary function testing is a general term for several diagnostic tests which measure:

  • how much air can get into and out of your lungs,
  • how fast you can exhale,
  • how well the oxygen gets from your lungs into your blood stream.

One of our Technologists will always be with you during your testing session to assist you.
