Ionia County Memorial Hospital's full service emergency department is open 24 hours a day, 365 days a year and
physician staffed at all times to treat serious injuries or dangerous symptoms. Specially trained staff are available
to provide high quality care when you need it the most.
We have partnered with Emergency Medical Associates and Sparrow Health System in providing Emergency Medicine trained and
Board Certified physician coverage in our Emergency Department. Dr. Laurence Gebler is our ED Physician Director.
The Emergency Department was expanded in 2000, which added two trauma rooms, three private rooms, a cast room and
a family consultation room to the department, beside three bay beds. We also have a decontamination room just
inside the ambulance entrance.
The radiology, respiratory, and laboratory areas are just across the hall from the Emergency Department for
convenient access to those in need of the additional services when they visit our ED.
We were awarded the Governor's Award of Excellence for improving care in the Emergency Department setting for Pneumonia.
This is the second year we have achieved this award.
