Ground Transport is a Michigan licensed and TCEMCA authorized ambulance service providing three levels of care and transport: basic, advanced and critical or specialty care.
The Mobile Intensive Care Unit provides transportation services for adult, pediatric and neonatal critical care patients. Its three mobile units transport seriously ill patients to Sparrow from smaller hospitals that can't provide the needed specialized care.
Ground Transport also transports patients to extended or acute care facilities, diagnostic centers, residences, nursing homes, hospices, as well as specialty hospitals locally and in eastern and midwestern portions of the United States.
Staff include transport nurse specialists, registered/licensed emergency medical technician-paramedics. Our transport staff paramedics are trained and required to maintain certification in:
Our ambulances meet and exceed all equipment requirements by the State of Michigan, i.e. oxygen, suction, etc. In addition our ambulances have intravenous pumps, transport ventilators, on-board 120 VAC electric supplies, refrigerators, and radio communication with any hospital in the USA. No ambulance service in the Tri-County area, public or private, can match the training and equipment level of Ground Transport. Ground Transport is also the only service in the Tri-County area specially equipped for bariatric patient transport.
Ground Transport Paramedics also provide medical control of any ambulance delivering a patient to the Sparrow or St. Lawrence emergency departments via phone or MEDCOM radio.
