The Sparrow/MSU Family Medicine Residency Program is one of the first Family Medicine Residency Programs to be accredited and established in Michigan and the United States. It merges the clinical perspectives and resources of a major community teaching hospital with the academic
perspectives and resources of the Department of Family Medicine at Michigan State University,
blending traditional curriculum structure with longitudinal training themes. Within this context, the center of your activities will reside in the Family Health Center (FHC).
Beginning in your first year, we want you to think of the FHC as your home office, not just a "residency clinic" where you drop in occasionally to see patients. You will be assigned your own panel of patients that you will follow over the course of your three years of
residency training, maintaining continuity in the care that you provide them from ambulatory to inpatient medical needs. Sparrow provides you with an environment that is conducive to learning. We have seasoned board-certified physicians, committed to meeting or
exceeding your personal goals, and ready to provide you with "real world" experiences enabling you to become a competent, compassionate, respected full-spectrum family physician, embraced by the community in which you eventually choose to practice.
