Classic television was the theme of the 4th annual Sparrow Gala, an evening of dining, dancing, and
casino-style gaming sponsored by the Sparrow Heart and Vascular Center and Sparrow Foundation on March 1, 2008 at
the Country Club of Lansing.
The charity event once again featured Las Vegas-style game tables, free tokens to play and prizes for all.
The Sunset Boulevard Band, a well-known Detroit-area group, provided American Bandstand-style entertainment.
More than $150,000 was raised to benefit the Sparrow Heart and Vascular Center’s catheterization labs and
testing facilities.
“The Sparrow Gala offers something for everyone,” said Laurie F. Bass, who co-chairs the Sparrow Gala
Planning Committee with her husband, Lawrence H. Bass, chair emeritus of the Sparrow Health System. “It’s an
entertaining way to give individuals and sponsors the opportunity to fight heart disease and support Sparrow’s
mission of providing high quality care to every patient.”
This year, Sparrow’s Heart and Vascular Center will perform more than 5,000 catheterizations and 62,000
non-invasive procedures.
