Sparrow's expanded ambulance capabilities and high-quality critical care services provide residents throughout the region with ready access to Sparrow care.
Multiple levels of ground transport and care are available to meet patient needs.
The critical care transport team is available on-site 24/7 to provide faster access to quality care through improved response time from a specially trained team capable of handling nearly any situation.
Transport staff includes transport nurse specialists and registered/licensed emergency medical technician-paramedics. Our transport staff paramedics are trained and required to maintain certification in:
- Critical Care Emergency Medical Transport (CCEMTP)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support
- Basic Trauma Life Support (ITLS)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
The Mobile Intensive Care Unit provides transportation services for adult, pediatric and neonatal critical care patients. Its three mobile units transport seriously ill patients to Sparrow from smaller hospitals that can't provide the needed specialized care.
Sparrow also transports patients to extended or acute care facilities, diagnostic centers, residences, nursing homes, hospices, as well as specialty hospitals locally and in eastern and midwestern portions of the United States.
