Hair-A-Thon 2023 Recap
The 9th Annual UM Health-Sparrow Children’s Center Hair-a-Thon took place on Saturday, September 30, 2023, and was a huge success! Hundreds of hair donations were collected to benefit to Maggie’s Wigs 4 Kids of Michigan and Children With Hair Loss, Michigan-based organizations that provide free wigs for children and adolescents who have lost their hair due to cancer treatment or other causes. Hair-A-Thon 2024
The 10th Annual Hair-a-Thon is tentatively scheduled for September 21, 2024. Please check this site closer to the event for updates.
Interested in helping out in other ways? If you are between 18 and 40 years old and want to join the National Marrow Donor Program to potentially save the life of someone with a life-threatening blood cancer or disease, please visit Be the Match. There is also information in the linked FAQ document (below) about making monetary donations to organizations that provide free wigs for youth.
We have donated thousands of ponytails and braids over the first nine years of the Hair-a-Thon and are grateful to all of the volunteer stylists, community members, and donors who continue to make the Hair-a-Thon a success each year. On behalf of the kids who benefit from the generosity of the Greater Lansing community, thank you for your ongoing support!
