If a tick has attached itself to your skin, use a fine-tipped tweezers to grab the tick firmly and as close to the skin as possible. Pull the tick's body away from your skin. If possible, seal the tick in a jar. Your doctor may want to see the tick if it is small (deer tick) and from an area where there is Lyme disease, or if you become ill after a tick bite. After handling the tick, use soap and water to wash your hands and the area around the tick bite.
