Background:
Dr. Talbott has served as chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery at Sparrow Hospital since 1996 and associate medical director of Cardiovascular Surgery at Sparrow since 1994. In addition, he has served as division chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery for the Michigan State University Department of Surgical Specialties since 1998.
He founded the Lansing Heart & Lung Specialists, PC, in 1990 and served as president of that practice from 1991-99. The practice merged with Mid-Michigan Physicians (MMP), PC, becoming Lansing Heart, Lung & Vascular Specialists, a division of MMP, in 1999. He remained with the practice until 2006 when he agreed to co-found the new Sparrow Michigan Cardiovascular & Thoracic Surgical Associates.
Dr. Talbott has continued to enhance his medical education through certified training in surgical ventricular restoration, implantation of Freestyle Stentless Valve, principles of endovascular surgery skills and techniques, Medtronic Octopus Tissue Stabilizer and InCardia system for minimally invasive surgery, Federal Department of Agriculture ABIOMED 500 External Artificial Heart and video assisted thoracic surgery.
