The payment system for Medicare patients of home health agencies has changed to a Prospective Payment System (PPS) across the nation effective Oct. 1, 2000. Part B medical supplies and outpatient therapies (physical, occupational and speech therapy) billed separately to Medicare PRIOR to Oct. 1, 2000 are now "consolidated" and paid by the home health agency while you are under the home health benefit.
The policy of Sparrow Home Care Network, Certified (SHCN, C) is to provide routine and non-routine medical supplies as described in the Federal Registry, and to arrange outpatient therapies to our Medicare patients while under the care of SHCN, C. Examples of items not included in the Federal Registry are: diabetic supplies and incontinence supplies not medically necessary.
SHCN,C reserves the right to choose the medical supply companies with which they wish to do business and to make arrangements with providers for outpatient therapy services.
When you elect to participate with home health care you are agreeing NOT to enter into independent agreements with third party providers for medical supplies or outpatient therapies. If agreements are in place at the time of admission, they must be temporarily suspended until you are discharged. If such arrangements are made while you are on service, payment for these services will be YOUR responsibility.
