The Michigan Athletic Club (MAC) offers adult basketball leagues each fall and winter for Men. The leagues take place on Sundays, with late afternoon to early evening game times. League format includes a minimum of seven league games followed by an all-inclusive post-season tournament. Three certified officials are used each game. Updated league standings, game results, and leading scorers are posted weekly. The league’s leading scorers are posted mid-season as well as at the end of the regular season. Awards are provided to the league champions.
Men’s Fall League: mid-September to mid-November
Men’s Winter League: early January to mid-March
Registration takes place the few weeks prior to the season. Returning teams get registration priority. Registrations are by whole team only. Individual registrants will be placed on a team if possible. If enough individual players sign up to form a team, and team is needed, they will form a “house team.”
Fees are $275 per team plus an additional per player fee of $15 for MAC members and $40 for guests. For additional information on the adult basketball leagues or to be placed on the league database, please contact Athletics Coordinator Mark Sanford at 517.364.8826 or firstname.lastname@example.org.

The Golden State Cavaliers finished the regular season in a three-way tie for 1st place along with Pizza House and MAC Fire – all with identical 6 – 1 records. Due to the league tie-breaker procedure, the Cavs ended up a third-seed in the MAC post-season tournament.
The Cavs had a little more trouble than expected in round #1 of the tournament by narrowly escaping an upset by sixth-seed Zaytoons by a final of 78 – 76. Daniel Sutherlin led the attack by pouring in a game-high 30 points in the 2-point victory.
Round #2 of the tournament would present an interesting match-up between the Cavs and MAC Fire. These two teams tangled during the regular season on October 8th and the Cavaliers dealt the MAC Fire their only regular-season loss by edging them by a final score of 81 – 79 behind Melvin White’s team-high 21 points. This time it wasn’t so close. MAC Fire kept it close in the first-half trailing only 44 – 41, but the Cavaliers blew it open in the second half behind Melvin White’s 22 points as they raced to a 91 – 76 victory.
The victory by the Cavs over MAC Fire set the stage for the long-awaited rematch between the Cavs and #1 seed Pizza House. These two teams met in the Winter League Championship game and Pizza House came out on top by a final of 75 – 67. The fall league championship took place on Sunday November 12th and this time it would have a different outcome. The Cavs, looking for sweet revenge, come out strong and never looked back. They led 42 – 26 at the half and ending up winning by a final of 75 – 59 behind Daniel Sutherlin’s 24 points. Dre Callahan had a game-high 29 points in the losing effort for Pizza House.
Both teams enjoyed a season-ending banquet at the Pizza House restaurant by having some pizza and watching a replay of the game on the big-screen TV. The teams will take a short break and gear up the 2018 Winter League which starts in mid-January.
