MAC Water Exercise Class Descriptions
  • Physician’s referral is required to purchase a medical guest Swipe Card.
  • MAC members and medical guests are welcome to attend all swipe card classes.
  • An asterisk (*) indicates swipe card classes.
  • (*) classes are 45 minutes long.
  • Medical Guests may access the facility 30 minutes prior to class beginning.

*Arthritis: An entry-level class. This class will focus on range of motion, gait, with non -rebounding exercise outlined by the Arthritis Foundation.

*Water Works 1/ Arthritis Plus: A low level workout with focus on flexibility, range of motion, posture and gait. This class will include 20 minutes of low-level non-rebounding cardiovascular exercise.

*Water Works 2: Low impact, water workout for individuals who cannot withstand repetition and rebounding. Exercises are preformed through a full range of motion. Focus is on strength, flexibility and posture without the splash or rebound. This class will include 20 minutes of cardio at a low to moderate intensity.

*Water Works 3: Low impact, water workout for individuals who cannot withstand repetition. Improve your strength and flexibility and posture with more complex sections of resistance training. Exercises are preformed through a full range of motion. This class will include 20 minutes of cardio at a moderate level.

*Weight Management: A low to moderate workout with focus on core stabilization. Designed with the new water participants in mind to help you feel comfortable and coordinated while getting a good workout. This class uses aqua jogger belts to insure no impact to the lower extremities.

*Multiple Sclerosis (MS): A Multiple Sclerosis Society Aquatic Program. This class is taught by a certified instructor in cool water (81 degrees). This class consists of strengthening and endurance activities (if tolerated). Pool lift available.

*Strength & Stretch: This class will help to improve your balance and coordination using waters natural resistance through a series of strength and stability exercises. Individuals will develop total body awareness through precision and concentrated effort with a focus on posture. Intensity level is moderate.

*Water Walking: This class uses walking through the water to increase strength, endurance, balance and coordination. This class offers 20 minutes of low intensity cardio.

*Aqua Float: – Drop- in open exercise time. Meet a group of classmates or make up a missed class session. No instructor present. Adult Only

Splash: Experience a water workout to stimulate your mind as well as your body. A variety of exercises in shallow and deep water designed to improve your cardiovascular and muscle strength and flexibility in a fun hour long class.

Deep Water: A non-impact workout in the deep water that will improve strength, flexibility, posture and cardiovascular, will include deep water running.

Finning: This class uses the length of the pool to maintain and improve cardiovascular conditioning. Participants will use swim fins and a kickboards focusing on all muscle groups.
