Mary Jo Stacks
Mary Jo holds a bachelor’s degree in exercise science from Michigan State University. She has been a physical education teacher, athletic coach and group fitness instructor for the past 35 years, but no form of body work has impressed her as much as Pilates. Years ago, she met a group of women in their 80s who had been doing Pilates for a long time, and she saw the benefits of the program — keeping the body youthful, supple, and flexible. It took another 10 years or so for her to get started on her own Pilates work, but she has received Pilates certification from the New York Guild and completed a 1,000-hour internship with Winsor Pilates. Mary Jo was with the Michigan Athletic Club for 15 years and, after a brief break, has returned to teaching at the MAC.
