Pilates Group Apparatus Class Descriptions
Develop a strong core, gain strength, balance, control and flexibility by learning this exercise system developed by Joseph Pilates. Classes utilize various pieces of resistance-based equipment to perform exercises using the powerhouse (deep abdominal muscles), combining proper breathing, precision and flow.
Classes are taught by certified Pilates instructors and require prior registration for each six week session. Beginning and Tower classes are limited to seven participants, limit of four for Reformer classes.
Beginning Pilates
Learn the basic principles of Pilates and build the essential skills to feel comfortable in small apparatus and studio classes. Class consists of precision mat exercises using light weights, magic circles and towers. Class is appropriate for all ages and fitness levels.
Tower Pilates
Take your Pilates experience to another level with the Pilates Tower Unit. This piece of equipment, along with the classical mat work, will add stretch, strength, stamina and stability to your workout. Class will utilize both the mat and Pilates equipment.
Level I: appropriate for individuals with some experience in mat.
Level II: previous tower experience and intermediate level mat work recommended.
Level III: previous tower and chair experience; advanced level mat and reformer work recommended.
Reformer Pilates
This challenging class uses the Reformer, a resistance-based piece of equipment, to support your body as you work through a full range of motion exercises. Strengthen and tone, develop a slender look, rather than bulk.
Level I: appropriate for beginners.
Level II: previous reformer experience recommended.
Level III: intermediate reformer experience recommended.
