Mission Statement

Our mission is to enhance the quality of patient care by ensuring that the Sparrow sponsored Continuing Medical Education programs are responsive to the needs of its physicians and based on proven clinical innovations and evidence-based medical practice.

As a fundamental driving principle Sparrow Health System is committed to providing compassionate, cost-effective and high quality medical care to its patients. Consistent with this commitment is the recognition that the continuing medical education programs are an essential component for the medical staff to achieve this goal. Guided by the Sparrow CME Committee, these programs are directed at the needs of the Sparrow Health System physicians. The following are components of its Mission:

1. To maintain accreditation by the Michigan State Medical Society and the American Osteopathic Association that will allow Sparrow to provide Category 1 and Category 1A CME Credits to its physicians.
2. To present to the physician community topics that are both relevant and pertinent for their medical practice, driven by needs that are clinically and educationally focused with proven solutions that are evidence-based to enhance patient care outcomes.
3. To provide an open forum whereby physicians can discuss collectively issues that are clinical, moral, ethical, and medical-legal in nature.
4. To conduct educational activities using mediums such as case reviews, formal presentations, grand rounds, hands-on laboratory training, and home-study materials in an effort to match the appropriate method to the educational goals and target audience.
5. To foster an atmosphere of excitement and urgency over the need for life-long continued learning by encouraging self-development, best practice habits, performance improvement, and quality outcomes.
