Handwashing

Handwashing and Preventing Infection

Quick Links:

As soon as you enter the room, a 3-minute scrub must be completed. This MUST be done BEFORE stopping at your baby's bedside. Directions are posted on the paper towel dispensers at the sink. Be sure to clean under your fingernails.

This scrub is extremely important to your baby's health. Even a small infection can become a serious illness for a baby in this unit. Please help us protect your baby as well as other babies by ensuring that ALL visitors complete the 3-minute scrub.

You must rewash your hands after touching your hair or face, hospital equipment, cameras, papers, chairs, etc.

If you have artificial nails, you must scrub and wear gloves for the entire visit. Bracelets, watches and other jewelry must be removed before scrubbing.

DO NOT VISIT if you have a fever or have been exposed to colds, flu, chicken pox, vomiting, diarrhea, cold sores or rash, and other illness.

PLEASE HELP US PROTECT OUR BABIES by following these simple rules.
