Infants requiring specialized care that their local hospital cannot provide are transported to Sparrow's Regional Neonatal Intensive Care Unit.
Neonatal nurses, respiratory therapists, paramedics and emergency medical technicians staff every neonatal transport under supervision
of a neonatologist at Sparrow by phone contact to monitor each tiny patient's condition and support the baby's medical needs.
Under certain conditions, a physician may accompany the team. The neonatal transport team uses Sparrow Hospital's specially designed ambulance for transporting babies.
The Sparrow RNICU Transport Team covers the Lower Peninsula counties of Ingham, Eaton, Clinton, Shiawassee, Gratiot, Montcalm, Jackson and Isabella.
