A few weeks after turning 8 years old, Janna Buskirk began experiencing severe headaches and vomiting.
Her parents took her to the doctor, and a CT scan revealed that she had a large tumor (astrocytoma) in her brain.
When her father told her that she would need surgery immediately, Janna put her arm around him and said, "Dad, it's OK. I know God
has a plan for me."
Neurosurgeon Dr. Christopher Abood of Lansing Neurosurgery was able to remove the tumor. Janna's recovery was remarkable.
She had surgery on a Saturday morning, was home Tuesday afternoon, and missed only seven days of school.
Jennifer Buskirk, Janna's mother, praised Dr. Abood and Sparrow Hospital. "Once Janna was at Sparrow, everything was wonderful.
We just can't say enough about the nurses at Sparrow. And, of course, Dr. Abood - he's our hero!"
