Tuesday, July 01, 2014 - Ionia County Sheriff Department road patrols get AEDs with help from Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation

Pictured from left to right are Jason Eppler, Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation President; Bill Roeser, Sparrow Ionia Hospital CEO;  Steve Edmondson, D.O., Saranac Physician; Ionia County Sheriff Dale Miller; Deputy Brent Denny and Sgt. Stan Hoskins.

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation along with Steve Edmonson, D.O., of Saranac helped purchase automated external defibrillators, or AEDs, for the Ionia County Sheriff Department road patrols.

An automated external defibrillator can send an electric shock to the heart to try to restore a normal rhythm. AEDs are used to treat sudden cardiac arrest, or the sudden, unexpected loss of heart function, breathing and consciousness.

The Sparrow Ionia Hospital Foundation was created in 1979 to improve healthcare services for Ionia County. For more information, click here
