Wednesday, February 20, 2013 - Joint Sparrow and HGB program promotes heart health in honor of American Heart Month

Learn stretching and relaxation techniques or attend a heart healthy cooking demonstration at an interactive heart health event hosted by Hayes Green Beach Memorial Hospital and Sparrow.

The free event, celebrating American Heart Month, is 5:30-7 p.m. Wednesday, Feb. 27, at AL!VE: Your Community Well-Being Place, 800 Lawrence Ave., Charlotte. No registration is required.

The event also will feature complimentary blood pressure and BMI checks.

At 6:15 p.m., there will be a presentation by a panel of four local physicians who will discuss heart health, including the prevention of disease, its signs and symptoms, and treatment options, as well as what to do if you believe you are having a heart attack. The featured physicians are:

  • Dr. Brian Bowditch, MD, HGB chief of emergency medicine
  • Dr. Dale Leffler, DO, FACC, Sparrow Thoracic Cardiovascular Institute
  • Dr. Richard Pinke, DO, FACC, Sparrow Thoracic Cardiovascular Institute
  • Dr. Seneca Storm, MD, AL!VE medical director
