How would you summarize your new position?
I have the privilege of working with the best providers and caregivers across the region to improve quality and patient safety while ensuring we exceed expectations for our infection prevention and accreditation practices.
What are your top three goals for the region or the hospital?
The teams will be focusing on elevating both quality and safe patient practices across the region. We will be leveraging and spreading best practices to improve patient outcomes, enhancing communication, standardizing work, and delivering an experience that our patients and community expect of us.
What is one thing you've learned about Sparrow and/or University of Michigan Health-West that surprised you?
I am not so much surprised by this, but it’s evident that caregivers and providers at both organizations are truly engaged to provide the best patient care possible. Patients and families are always a top priority.
What are you most looking forward to in your new role?
Since I graduated from nursing school, I have been working tirelessly to improve patient care, so I am looking forward to taking the past 25 years of learning (successes and failures) and sharing with others.
Where is your favorite place in Michigan to vacation?
I love to vacation on Mackinac Island. The island is so quaint and reminds me a little of growing up in South Dakota with horses, kind people, lots of open space and the smells.
What book or movie did you last read or watch?
The last book I read was “The Nightingale,” an historical fiction that tells the story of two sisters in France during World War II and their struggle to survive and resist the German occupation of France. The strength that these women displayed during those times of crisis and chaos just amaze me.
Anything else, either personal or professional, that you’d like to add?
My pride and joy include my two daughters, who are both attending college at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. GO BLUE! Also, I can’t forget my husband and support, Andy, and my greyhound dog, Pipsy.
