Medical Oncology/Medical Specialties
This is a 44-bed unit cares for oncology and hematology patients, hemodialysis and central auditory processing disorder patients, geriatric patients and patients with chronic medical diagnoses such as diabetes,
pancreatitis, electrolyte imbalances, congestive heart failure, and more. This unit also has sixteen telemetry monitors, requiring all RNs to be proficient in identification of
arrhythmias. Another requirement is the basic oncology course and the chemotherapy provider course. RNs on this unit function in a modified team setting. The RNs
manage and coordinate the care of the patients and delegate and oversee appropriate tasks carried out by ancillary personnel.
