IV Specialty Department (IVSD) is dedicated to the delivery of compassionate, quality, value-directed
infusion services by working cooperatively with other health system departments and related community agencies. Infusion services and education are
provided for a wide range of patients, pediatric to geriatric, by the specially trained registered nurses. The Vascular Access Service, an early
assessment program that identifies patients for alternative types of specialty IV catheter placement, is administered by the IVSD.
Administration of adult chemotherapy, difficult peripheral venipuncture, IV resource to all healthcare departments, patient and family teaching for
home IV therapy, Associate education, insertion of: peripherally inserted central catheter, midlines, extended dwells, care and maintenance of implanted
ports, epidural care, specialty catheter repairs and all aspects of IV problem-solving are included in the wide range of specialty services provided by this department.
