The Mother/Baby Center staff provides postpartum care for the mom and newborn care for the babies. An average of eleven babies are born daily. We perform assessments and provide the specialized care needed for each newborn. Every infant receives a hearing screening prior to discharge. Certified lactation consultants are part of the team and provide a class (Monday through Saturday) as well as individualized care to help with breastfeeding. A discharge class is televised and moms are encouraged to view this prior to discharge. Our nurses are committed to providing each mom with the education she needs in order to ensure a successful transition from hospital to home.
