The 18-bed unit takes care of less critical neurologic patients; transfers from the Neuro Intensive Care Unit; transfers from the Stroke Unit; anterior cervical fusion
surgeries; major back surgeries; post critical care multiple trauma patients.
Unit Based Council Description
NSDU is led by Tammy Parsons with Ledya Harris taking an active role. NICU is led by Amy Topper and Becky Hayes. Stroke Unit is led by Mike Roberts and Karen Zaleski.
All three units Unit Based Councils have become a major decision making force in each unit. They have worked on scheduling issues, holidays, stocking and unit celebrations.
The nurse physician relationship and RN relationship/satisfaction is another important project. All three units have been working to improve on discharge and transfer times.
