This 12-bed unit provides care for patients with neurologic problems including closed head injuries, pre- and
post-operative craniotomies for brain tumors, aneurysms and ventriculoperitoneal shunts. Designated Intensive Care Unit for trauma patients from Level I Trauma Center.
Patient mix of 50% trauma and 50% neuro.
Unit Based Council Description
NSDU is led by Tammy Parsons with Ledya Harris taking an active role. NICU is led by Amy Topper and Becky Hayes. Stroke Unit is led by Mike Roberts and Karen Zaleski.
All three units Unit Based Councils have become a major decision making force in each unit. They have worked on scheduling issues, holidays, stocking and unit celebrations.
The nurse physician relationship and RN relationship/satisfaction is another important project. All three units have been working to improve on discharge and transfer times.
