Dr. Gupta is a diplomate of the American Board of Anesthesiology with a subspecialty in Pain Management, diplomate of the American Academy of Pain Management, and fellow of the American Board of Pain Medicine. He received his medical degree from the University of Miami School of Medicine, and Ph.D. in Biochemistry from the University of Michigan. He completed internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Anesthesiology at the University of Miami Affiliated Hospitals. Dr. Gupta has been an attending staff anesthesiologist with Sparrow and the Pain Management Center since 1990. He is Clinical Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology with Michigan State University College of Osteopathic Medicine and College of Human Medicine. He has been Assistant Professor of Anesthesiology at University of Miami and Assistant Director of the Pain Clinic at Jackson Memorial Hospital. He was a Research Fellow and Instructor in the Biochemistry department at Harvard University. Dr. Gupta remains active in lecturing for both lay and professional audiences. This includes lectures for the Osler Review Course on Pain Management, a national review course to prepare physicians for certification in pain management, as well as anesthesia and pain management topics.
