Diffusion Capacity (DLCO)

Objectives:
Assessment of diffusion capacity
Diagnostic and therapeutic evaluation

• If the DLCO is desired without the need of a Complete Pulmonary Function Test, it may be ordered separately.*
• Adjunct in therapeutic evaluation in patients with selected cardiac and other drug regiments.
• Drug therapy follow up

*Note: A Complete Pulmonary Function Test includes the DLCO testing. If the diffusion capacity is ordered as a standalone test, basic Spirometry is a standing order and must be done as part of the DLCO testing.

Orders:
Patient's hemoglobin will be measured via hemacue during testing. The office will be notified of abnormal HGB results.
