Basic Spirometry

Objectives:

• Assess the Forced Vital Capacity and all Forced Expiratory Volumes as compared with recognized normal values for height, weight, race, age and sex.
• Basic indication of Obstructive or Restrictive lung disease
• Ordering testing with the Pre and Post Bronchodilator studies option, affords a good indication on reversibility of any obstructive contribution from bronchospasm.

Entry level assessment:

• pulmonary screening
• baseline volumetric testing

Forced Vital Capacities and all timed Forced Expiratory Volumes:

• FVC
• FEV1
• FEF 25-75
• Peak Flow

May be ordered as Pre and Post Bronchodilator for basic reversibility studies.
