Body Fluid Cytology

Requirements:

• Container: clean sterile container securely capped for transport to SRL Cytology department
• Specimen: submit fresh (unfixed) fluid. Transport immediately after collection to SRL Cytology department. If the specimen cannot be transported immediately the specimen must be:
• Refrigerated: may be kept 24–48 hours
• Storage: refrigerate
• Performed: Monday – Friday
• Reported: 2 business days
• Reference Range: Narrative report
• Method: Microscopy
