A physical therapist will assist you in restoring or compensating for lost mobility and physical function. Upon admission to the Rehabilitation Unit, a physical therapist will complete a comprehensive evaluation and establish appropriate goals with you. Based on your abilities and needs you will receive individualized and group treatments.
Some treatments may include: strengthening, balance, coordination, mobility exercises, ambulation, and wheelchair training. Orthotic, prosthetic, wheelchair, and ambulation equipment are recommended as appropriate. Closer to discharge you may receive an individualized home exercise program. A home evaluation, which is done with occupational therapy, may be completed to assist you in your transition from the hospital to your home.
