SANE Program

SANE Program Information

The examination can take place in a specially equipped room at the Sparrow Emergency Department. A sexual assault examination includes a history from the patient, thorough assessment to evaluate for trauma and a detailed genital examination to evaluate for trauma and collection of forensic evidence.

The sexual assault examination will be explained to the patient so they can make an informed choice and provide consent for care.

Over 380 sexual assault survivors receive care through the S.A.N.E. program each year. Call 517.364.3641 for more information.
