Sparrow Search Engine Sparrow Health System Search Engine

Sparrow Search Tips:

  • Combining terms:
    • AND: Looks for Sparrow web pages containing BOTH terms;  i.e. 'baby AND women' will list the "Special Care During Pregnancy" page first, but a search on "baby" will list the "Baby Online" page first.
    • OR: Looks for Sparrow web pages containing EITHER term;  i.e. 'human resources OR jobs' will find any page that mentions one of those terms; the search phrase does not have to mention them both.
    • NOT: Looks for Sparrow web pages containing the first term, but if they also contain the second, they will be rejected;  i.e. 'healthy recipes NOT burgers' will not display any page with the word 'burgers' on it, even if it does contain the phrase 'healthy recipes'.
    • NEAR: Requires that BOTH words appear in the document; in addition, both words must appear in close proximity to each other.
  • Phrase searching: enclose the phrase in quotation marks to search for an exact phrase; i.e. "gift shop".
  • Free text searching: Check the box to ask a conversational question (Where is the Children's Miracle Network?);  do not enclose the phrase in quotation marks.
  • General Rules:
    • Punctuation (i.e. periods, commas, semicolons) are ignored.
    • Case is ignored:  'SPARROW' is equivalent to 'sparrow'.
