Physician Training
Every single one of the Sparrow surgeons who perform robotic-assisted surgery have completed an intensive
training and mentoring program in using a da Vinci surgical platform. Our surgeons are assisted by a robotics
team that includes experienced surgical and specialty nurses, surgical technologists and a nurse practitioner,
all who have focused skills and training in robotic surgery and patient care.
Nearly 1,000 robotic-assisted surgeries have been performed at Sparrow since 2005, and the staff at Sparrow
offers guidance and insight to specialists around the state who are establishing a robotics program at their
local hospital.
