Who is eligible?

Currently, patients who wish to undergo bariatric or obesity surgery must meet the following guidelines:

• Age 18 - 60* with two previous documented attempts at weight loss.
• Body Mass Index(BMI) over 40 or between 35-39 with two obesity related conditions such as high blood pressure or diabetes.
• Letter of recommendation from a primary care provider.

*Patients over the age of 60 will be considered for surgery on a case by case basis.

Our Affordability.

The bariatric surgery program offered through the Sparrow Weight Management Center is the only one in the greater Lansing area that accepts Medicare. Sparrow accepts most insurance plans and also offers flexible payment programs, making surgery an affordable option.
