Chiropractic
Chiropractic is concerned with investigating the relationship between structure (primarily of the spine) and function (primarily of the nervous system) of the human
body to restore and preserve health. Chiropractic applies such knowledge to diagnosing and treating structural dysfunctions that can affect the nervous system. Chiropractors use
manual procedures and interventions, rather than surgery or chemotherapeutics.
Uses/Research Base: Chiropractic
specialty areas are extremely pertinent to health care specialties, such
as radiology, orthopedics, neurology, and sports medicine. Current
chiropractic research interests include back and other painful areas and
somatovisceral disorders.
