The Center for Health, Humanities and Well-Being represents a collaborative endeavor between Sparrow Health System, Michigan State University and healthcare professionals in the mid-Michigan area.
Our purpose is to cultivate an awareness and atmosphere within the community, the workplace, and our lives, which recognizes the essential balance of the physical, emotional, spiritual, and social aspects of our nature.
The Center offers programs, activities, and exposure to innovative modes of practice, which increase awareness of the humanities and spirituality in healing. Through these efforts, our intention is to enhance the well being of all people and to enrich the relationships between the healthcare community and those it serves.
Goals
- Increase the awareness, knowledge and skills of
individuals regarding their role in the healing process.
- Educate the community about the benefits of
complementary, holistic approaches to health care.
- Support personal growth toward greater
wholeness and health through integration of mind, body and spirit.
- Cultivate awareness of the interdependent
relationships between an individual's health and that of our
institutions and communities.
- Promote and research innovative options which
improve health and healing to all segments of the communities we serve.
- Support Sparrow Health System's transformation
from primarily a disease management focus, to a center which promotes
health and wellness, provides for healing, and addresses disease
prevention.
- Establish an environment which encourages and empowers providers to achieve the healthy balance between professional achievement through service and fulfillment of personal and family life needs.
