Hypnosis
Hypnosis is a natural state of mind that occurs in everyday life. All of us experience hypnotic states of mind on a regular basis. Intense concentration is actually a hypnotic state of mind as
is daydreaming. So, hypnosis is a state of focused, single-minded, heightened awareness; a state of awareness dominated by the subconscious mind.
Use/Research Base: Hypnosis is
used to treat habit disorders, to enhance relaxation, for pain management,
to reduce/eliminate nausea, to prepare for medical and dental procedures
and surgery, to reframe traumatic events and with a physician referral, to
be used as a complementary therapy in the treatment of some medical
conditions.
