Pulmonary Medicine

From birth to geriatric care, Pulmonary Services encompasses Diagnostics (sleep medicine, pulmonary function testing), Therapeutics (respiratory therapy), and Rehabilitation (improved activity through controlled exercise). Under each of the three areas of specialization, there are a total of 100 licensed, credentialed individuals who have passed national board examinations in their area of clinical specialty.

In addition, each section of the Pulmonary Services department (Diagnostics, Therapeutics, Rehabilitation) has passed a national certification review indicative of the highest standard of care for the population served. Each section is under the direct supervision of a board-certified physician, as well as administrative staff consisting of a clinical director, manager, and supervisory staff.

Duties include but are not limited to smoking cessation, education, emergency airway procedures, cardiopulmonary resuscitation, patient transport, ventilatory life support, mass casualty, aerosol therapy, and sophisticated sleep and lung diagnostic studies.

The types of patients cared for include those with acute and chronic conditions. Some of the conditions include infant prematurity, mechanical ventilator dependency, trauma, closed head injury, asthma, bronchitis, emphysema, as well as several other acute and chronic lung conditions.
