Best Newborn Care Class Ever

Learn everything you need to know about taking care of and feeding your newborn, starting with the moment your baby is born. Class discussion on what to expect with a newborn: how to care for your newborn, soothing a crying baby, understanding infant sleep patterns, recognizing illness, car seat safety, feeding your baby including information on breastfeeding, using formula and adjusting to parenthood. Parents will have opportunities for hands on practice with CPR and choking, diapering, swaddling, and bathing.

This class covers a small portion of the Breastfeeding class. The actual Breastfeeding class covers all of the Breastfeeding material as well as introduction to solid foods and returning to work.

This class is a must for parents to get all your questions answered by professional childbirth educators and infant feeding specialists.

Class Topics:

​Week 1: About Your Newborn: Newborn Traits, Infant Feeding: Breastfeeding, Formula Feeding, and Bottle Feeding.

Week 2: About Your Newborn: Newborn Behaviors, Crying and Comforting, and Diapering.

Week 3: About Your Newborn: Bathing, Newborn Care, Newborn Safety: Infant CPR and Choking.

Basics of Breastfeeding

Learn more about breastfeeding before baby arrives to give your baby the very best start. Our Breastfeeding Class is taught by a Certified Lactation Counselor, using evidence-based information. Mom's support person is welcome and encouraged to attend! Evidence-based research recognizes how valuable Mom's support person is to successful breastfeeding. Classes use a variety of teaching methods including coaching, demonstration, and hands on learning techniques. Using this type of classroom instruction provides information, tips, and techniques to get breastfeeding off to a good start and keep breastfeeding on-going.

Class Topics: Prenatal Changes, How Your Body Makes Milk, Skin to Skin, Colostrum, Positioning, Latching Techniques, Signs of Success, Managing Possible Problems, Maintaining Milk Supply, Breast Pumps, Milk Collection/Storage, Preparing Bottles, Going Back to Work, Starting Solids, and Where to Find Help.

​This class covers all the breastfeeding material as well as introduction to solids and returning back to work.

Infant Safety

This 2.5 hour class provides updated evidence-based safety information designed for anyone caring for a newborn. This class is taught by an instructor who is a Car Seat Certified Technician who is certified in CPR and a childbirth educator.

Class Topics: Infant CPR/Choking (no certification card), Car Safety, Safe Sleep, SIDS, Childproofing, Home Safety, Poisons, and Emergency Preparedness.
