Adult Inpatient Psychiatry Unit

Our Adult Inpatient Psychiatry program

UM Health-Sparrow Lansing's adult inpatient psychiatry unit provides quality evaluation and treatment of mental illness for patients age 18 and older. We provide holistic, comprehensive care to assist our patients in their rapid return to the community.

At our adult inpatient psychiatry unit, our focus is on maximizing the quality of your life and helping you return to your normal routine as quickly as possible. Our goal is to provide an atmosphere that is safe, respectful, and therapeutic.

We are also a teaching unit for psychiatric residents, medical students, student nurses, psychology interns, and activity therapy students. This arrangement promotes quality care, since teaching institutions must maintain high standards and keep abreast of new treatments while providing dedicated student supervision.

We strongly support your right to confidential treatment. When you are admitted to our unit, a nurse will give you the option of signing a release of information form.

The help you need

We treat all major mental illnesses, including depression, severe mood swings, schizophrenia, schizoaffective disorder, post-traumatic stress disorder, anxiety/panic attack, and others.

Our team

Our services are provided through the coordinated efforts of mental health professionals who make up a treatment team. The team working with you and your psychiatrist includes mental health and activity therapists, registered nurses, psychiatric technicians, and a chaplain.
