January 2013 Sparrow Volunteer of the Month: Margaret Stevens

The Sparrow Women’s Board of Managers and Sparrow Volunteer Services Department have named Margaret Stevens of Haslett as the January volunteer of the month.

After nurses training at Saginaw General Hospital, Margaret worked as a nurse at St. Lawrence Hospital, Lansing from 1955-1995, the last 20 years in the recovery room. After retiring, she then wanted to give to the community in some way, using her nursing skills.

A colleague of Margaret’s told her about Sparrow’s free blood pressure program offered at the local malls. This intrigued Margaret and she has been reading blood pressures at the Meridian Mall for 14 years.
